First Gimp Sig
I never really used gimp for signatures. I usually just used it for photo edits and stuff like that. Most of my sigs are just paint.net. Here is my first siggy made with gimp. Basic but oh well T_T
Re: First Gimp Sig
That's pretty cool. I probably couldn't even do that much :P. Well good job.

Looking up some tutorials would be a major help, but for the "first time", you have the basics down. Two two best things you can always do with a banner is make the text and render blend into the banner, regardless of the rest of it. Having a flow to the sig also helps.
I'm sure if you keep practicing you'll get much better. ^^
EDIT: And you should really get some better fonts than that. http://dafont.com is an excellent place for them. Plus, since you use Microsoft, it should be a breeze to install them.

Albino Wolf basically covered it. Finding tutorials is really easy, just google "beginners signature tutorials" and a bunch of stuff pops up. Of course, you can get more advanced later, but there are a lot of really good-looking ones that are easy to do.

Are you talking about rendering?
Trust me, you don't want to try. Rendering is an extremely tedious, especially if you don't know what you're doing. And even if you know what you're doing, it's some of the longest hours you'll be spending of your life.
Although there's plenty of places you can find renders scattered, PlanetRenders is a good place to start. I'm not going to link it because a) it's filled with annoying pop-ups and b) the ads put tracking cookies on your computer. The site isn't necessarily bad, but you should clear your cookies afterwards if you plan on going there. Clearing them afterwards, mind you.
Alternatively, send Ashley a stock and ask nicely.
Alternatively to that, you can use a stock. If you don't know what that is: it's a picture that hasn't been rendered, so it still has the background. I've seen both tutorials and banners alike that have used stocks, and they can turn out very nicely if you know what you're doing. It's a little bit more advanced than using a render, but it's still a nice skill to have.

Re: First Gimp Sig
I have been playing around with it all night (which explains why I slept until 1) and found a few things out like rendering, cutting, new shading techniques, and background tweaking. Im getting the hang of it and will be posting some more of my work later on. Thanks for the feedback, everyone ^_^

Lawl, I laughed when I saw that. XD You could ask me if you want to, It's easier for me because I use a tablet. There's still a lot I don't know about rendering, though. I normally make my own renders if I cant find one that I like, but sometimes it's not the greatest cut.

I have Gimp, and I'm so bad at it, and your first attempt was better than mine. You can end up being pretty good.
